
The FDA warns of a real water product linked to the outbreak of hepatitis
A warning from the U.S. The Food and Drug Administration is assisting when the agency, along with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Southern Health Nevada District, investigates reports of Nevada-free hepatitis C virus linked to alkaline water.
“The FDA is aware that the alkaline water in ‘Real Water’ is no longer available for sale by online retailers,” law enforcement officials said Wednesday. In a test of the company’s voluntary performance last month, the FDA also found that many distributors had not been notified by the memorial company.
“On March 31, 2021, Real Water Inc. continues to advertise the product on social media despite announcing its reinstatement,” the organization said. “Therefore, the FDA further states that it is important for consumers, restaurants, distributors, and retailers not to drink, cook, sell or supply alkaline ‘Real Water’.”
The organization also advises not to give water to livestock.
Five children were hospitalized in late 2020 in Clark County, but have recovered, according to a report by the Las Las Health Department of Las Vegas, which first received reports of five cases in November 2020.

“Patients were living in four different homes. Six more people reported having mild symptoms including vomiting, nausea, loss of appetite and fatigue. These patients included three adults and three children,” the health district said.
The FDA has said the company, which has facilities in Henderson, Nevada, and Mesa, Arizona, is not cooperating with its investigation into the outbreak.
Commemorative products include 5-gallon and 3-gallon containers of Real Water for home delivery / registration, bottles of various sizes sold online and in stores, and concentrate sold online. The press release from the company includes 1.5 liter, 1 liter, 500 ml, and 1-gallon 1 drinking water bottles and 4 oz. focus.
Remembrance products are available nationwide, according to the company’s press release, but 5-liter containers were distributed in Nevada, California and Arizona.
Symptoms of all forms of hepatitis, including non-viral hepatitis, can include fever, fatigue, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, dark urine, clay or gray bowel movements, joint pain, yellow eyes, and jaundice.
Real Water is marketed in blue plastic bottles as a rich and “alkaline” mineral and is “infused with negative ions.”
