Texas Man Plans To Retire At Holiday Inns Around The Globe Instead Of A Nursing Home — How Will It Work?

A Facebook post by Terry Robinson has turned him into an overnight celebrity. Robinson, from Spring, Texas; announced that he has plans to retire and move into Holiday Inns across the world.

Mr. Robinson gave a long list of reasons why he decided not to move into a nursing home with the main one being — cost.

Robinson, a political buff, said it was a no-brainer when he realized that the average cost for a nursing home is $188.00 per day compared to only $59.23 a night at the hotel chain.

Other pros to living in a nice hotel — the many amenities including a swimming pool, a workout room, a lounge, and washer-dryer.

Mr. Robinson went on to say that additionally he is treated like royalty by tipping them on a regular basis.

According to Robinson, with more than 1,100 locations around the world, he will be able to travel wherever he wants.

The retiree said in his post: “No nursing home for us. We’ll be checking into a Holiday Inn!

With the average cost for a nursing home care costing $188.00 per day, there is a better way when we get old and too feeble.

I’ve already checked on reservations at the Holiday Inn. For a combined long term stay discount and senior discount, it’s $59.23 per night.”

He went on to explain: “Breakfast is included, and some have happy hours in the afternoon. That leaves $128.77 a day for lunch and dinner in any restaurant we want, or room service, laundry, gratuities, and special TV movies. Plus, they provide a spa, a swimming pool, a workout room, a lounge, and a washer-dryer, etc. Most have free toothpaste and razors, and all have free shampoo and soap. $5-worth of tips a day and you’ll have the entire staff scrambling to help you.”

Family visits will be fun, according to Robinson, who wrote that “they will always be glad to find you, and probably check in for a few days mini-vacation… and the grand-kids can use the pool.”

Robinson concluded by saying that he will never be alone because the maid will check on him and if need be call “an ambulance . . . Or the undertaker.”
