Stars Of The USA Network Show Chrisley Knows Best Indicted—Is This A Sign Of More Crackdowns To Come?

Todd and Julie Chrisley appeared before a Georgia court on Wednesday, where they entered a plea of not guilty to tax evasion as well as other federal charges. Reports indicate the stars of “Chrisley Knows Best” surrendered themselves to authorities on Wednesday, earlier in the day.

Both Todd and Julie were reported to have been released on individual unsecured appearance bonds amounting to $100,000 each. The judge also added the ruling that they are both limited to travel within the Atlanta area, and part of Tennessee and California, leaving them the option to continue filming their reality TV show.

There was an added stipulation that if the couple does intend to leave the Atlanta area, to the other approved states, they must first clear it with each of their probation officers.

It was said that Todd appeared happy when seen leaving the courtroom, while Julie was said to appear much more stoic. They both can be seen in a video that was obtained by TMZ. In the video, the Chrisley’s lawyers made the statement: “We’re going to fight it, and we’re going to win it. They are innocent of every single charge.”

After their court appearance on Wednesday, the Chrisley’s lawyers Bruce H Morris and Stephen M Friedberg issued a joint statement to Yahoo Entertainment. In that statement, the lawyers commented on the fact that the Chirsleys had been under investigation for some time, by the Attorney’ Office of the Northern District of Georgia. The investigation was based on what they claimed was, in fact, false allegations by a former colleague of a company they co-owned.

The lawyers went on to say that the indictment against Todd largely relies on emails that Todd himself never sent, but was entirely fabricated by his former colleague. The former colleague approached authorities in 2012, with the false claims, and now seven years later, that same individual has immunity from prosecution, and the Chrisley’s were indicted.

The indictments against the couple include multiple counts of conspiracy, bank fraud, wire fraud, and tax evasion. The indictment also included the Chrisley’s accountant, Peter Tarantino, for charges related to the tax evasion offense.

So the real question remains, how will all of these recent events affect the future of the Chrisley’s show at USA Network? Sources close to the situation assure that recent reports that the Chrisley’s show Chrisley Knows Best, which is rumored to be canceled, are “completely false.” The same sources went on to assure that new episodes will indeed air in the coming fall.
