Limbaugh’s Betsy Ross Flag Shirts Raise $3 Million—Take That One Kaepernick!

When conservative radio talk show host, Rush Limbaugh, announced that he was going to be selling a shirt emblazoned with an image of the Betsy Ross flag, not even the great Rushbo himself could have expected the results.

The sales of the shirts hit the ground running, and in no time at all skyrocketed. So much so that the proceeds from the sales netted an estimated $3 million—all of which Rush announced on Monday’s Fox & Friends would go to the non-profit Tunnel to Towers Foundation.

The shirt was debuted earlier this month, with Rush stating the purpose of the garment was very simple. He wanted to offer people a way to stand up, and push back, against ex-NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who cause such a commotion over Nike’s planned release of their new sneakers sporting a Betsy Ross flag. Kaepernick has been in the news ever since his taking a knee during the National Anthem at football games, argued that the Betsy Ross flag is seen as a symbol of slavery in America.

The proceeds from the shirts, which sell for a very reasonable $27, are all going to benefit the Tunnels to Towers Foundation—a non-profit that was established after the earth-shattering events of 9/11 geared towards supporting the families of fallen heroes as well as injured veterans.

When appearing on the Monday edition of Fox & Friends, Limbaugh said: “Three million dollars toa charity on a 27-dollar item. I really have to thank all of you at Fox for helping us with this. This has been overwhelming.” Limbaugh went on to bring up the sound point that: “If this money were going to some left-wing charity, the drive-by media would be all over this.”

Rush also said that he felt there was no need to try to tear down the nation’s history, and there was certainly no reason to tear down Betsy Ross. He thought she was a hero for America, if not one of the nation’s first feminists. As is usually the case with anything that sells well, knock-offs have been surface online, forcing Limbaugh to say that he is possibly going to take legal action.

Frank Siller created the Tunnel to Towers Foundation in memory of his New York firefighter brother, who sadly lost his life on that fateful 9/11 day. Saying that he is personally beyond words, Siller informed the media that money received from Limbaugh enabled the foundation to pay off mortgages of six more of the fallen heroes.
