In The Latest Expansion Of Cities Skylines, Driving Is Being Replaced By Walking
Exactly what makes sense? When you can get to a city on foot without needing a car. That’s cool, and Cities’ creators: The upcoming Plazas & Promenades DLC will bring pedestrian-only zones, special districts, and services that cater to a playstyle I’ve heard fans demand since Cities premiered in 2015. Skylines concur.
The expansion film illustrates the peaceful and joyful idea of walkable, bikeable city centers complete with outside plazas and trams from a literal bird’s eye view. For the defending champion of city architects, the version adds “over 300” new assets in addition to new regions and districts.
The new pedestrian-only streets are situated like any other, but only emergency services, such as fire trucks, police cars, and ambulances, are allowed to enter them. This enables you to reduce emissions and noise for improved citizen life experiences.
For pedestrian-friendly, high-density residential, commercial, and office zones that resemble more contemporary city centers, new district specialties incorporate wall-to-wall buildings. To match, there are service buildings. With new regulations, you can reduce traffic speeds, outlaw sugary beverages, and permit street performers in pedestrian-friendly locations.

Images also display some more cool elements. For instance, large built-in glass-roof sunshades can cover open-air shopping malls and metro stations in the new plazas.
The images showcasing the tram and bus-only routes running through the pedestrian areas are my favorites.
Although there is no set release date for Cities: Skylines – Plazas & Promenades, Colossal Order promises that it will be “coming soon.” More information is available on the Paradox website. Currently, it is available on Steam and Epic, but I’m sure it will appear elsewhere soon enough.
