Fans of Dr. Dre know the iconic producer, entrepreneur, and rapper has really come upon hard times over the last year and a half. At least from what publicly available information has shown us, it looks like Dre’s problems started back in 2020 amid the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic and subsequent lockdown.
Reports surfaced claiming that Dre and his estranged wife, Nicole Young, had filed for divorce and had done so in dramatic fashion. Paparazzi snapped photos of Nicole going in and out of her lawyer’s office in Los Angeles.
The notoriously private couple, who has remained out of the spotlight for years, soon began to fight in a court of law, and documents from the case were picked up by many major news outlets. One such document touched on how Nicole had demanded to see all legal papers in relation to any children Dre may have fathered behind her back.
Dre and Nicole’s bickering through the justice system continued, and just a few months later, it was reported that Dre had a brain aneurysm. TMZ reported that the 55-year-old music mogul was let out of the hospital on Friday and would be monitored 24/7 by medical workers at his home.
To make matters worse, Dr. Dre‘s home was broken into while he was in the hospital. Thankfully, police say the men in question failed to get any of the producer’s belongings because they never actually made it inside.
This past week, Dr. Dre was ordered by a judge to pay his estranged wife, Nicole Young, $2 million in spousal support for the time being. Previously, Nicole tried to get Dre to pay for her security bills, but Dre and his lawyer successfully argued against it.
It’s not entirely clear why Dre and Young finally ended their marriage after so many years, but some reports have suggested it was due to infidelity on Dre’s end.
One predicament that social media took an interest in was the fact that Dre had torn up their prenup as a romantic gesture. Fans joked that he was probably regretting that now.
