Demi Lovato released a music video. She appears to recreate the night of her near-fatal drug overdose in 2018.

The video for the singer’s new single “Dancing With the Devil,” also the name of her recently launched YouTube series chronicling her journey through relapse and recovery, was released on April 1 evening.

In it, the “Skyscraper” singer appears to recreate the events that led to her 2018 overdose with heartbreaking details that reflect the night she describes in her documentary.

When Lovato used heroin in combination with fentanyl, he suffered three strokes and a heart attack.

Doctors told him that he had five to ten minutes to live. Almost three years later, he still experiences blind spots in his vision and brain deterioration.

In the video, which begins with a warning about “drugs, drug use, trauma, and sexual abuse,” Lovato is seen lying in a hospital bed with tubes in his throat.

In the docuseries, the singer’s mother, Diana de la Garza, depicts a comparable scene in Lovato in the ICU. She revealed that she had a tube in her throat that carried blood to a machine and then put it around his neck.

During the clip, Lovato is seen celebrating at the bar and approaching his drug dealer, who presents him with a bag full of drugs. In the documentary series, the 28-year-old recalls an occasion during which she went to a “shopping spare” and was introduced to heroin for the first time.

The video also shows Lovato unconscious on a bed, left alone by her drug dealer. In her YouTube series’s third installment, the interpreter spoke about being sexually assaulted and “left for dead” the night of her overdose.

“What people don’t realize about that night for me is that not only did I overdose, they also abused me,” he recalls on the series. “When they found me, I was naked. I was blue. They literally left me for dead after he abused me. “

The singer is then seen being treated to her health in the hospital. The camera focuses on the tattoo on her neck that reads, “Survivor,” which fans first saw on Lovato in 2019.
