”Aliens Are Real and They Could Be Among Us, ” First British Astronaut Says — Does She Have a Point?

In an interview with Observer magazine, the first British astronaut, Helen Sharman, opined that aliens do exist, and they are possibly living among us without being detected so far.

Dr. Sharman traveled to the Soviet space station Mir in May 1991, when she was 27. She spent eight days in space as a researcher.

The chemist who now teaches at Imperial College, London, noted that aliens are not necessarily made of carbon and nitrogen like us. In Sharman’s opinion, they could be right here now, but we cannot see them.

Asked what being in space taught her, the astronaut replied that it’s people that mattered, not the material goods we possess. She added that while being in orbit, she did not think about anything physical she owned on Earth as the team had everything they needed to survive – food, drink, the right temperature, and safety. They only missed their loved ones.

Elsewhere in her interview, Sharman admitted she has always been frustrated when people described her as the first British female astronaut. ”I was the first British person,” Sharman emphasized, saying that she does not want to be defined by her sex.

When Tim Peak went into space, many people forgot about me, the chemist pointed out. A man going first would be the norm, she added, highlighting how proud she was to upset the order.

Sharman is among the first astronauts to reveal her views on aliens’ life so publicly, but she is certainly not alone in her beliefs.

Her colleague, the Apollo 11 astronaut Michael Collins, was once asked on Twitter whether he believed in aliens. He briefly replied with a ”yes” without giving any further justifications.

In 2017, a former Pentagon official, Luis Elizondo, said in an interview on CNN’s “Erin Burnett OutFront, also said he believed that there is evidence of alien life reaching our planet.

Elizondo was part of a government program researching potential UFOs. He quit his job at the Department of Defense in protest over what he defined as ”excessive secrecy” surrounding the program and internal issues.

Elizondo said he was not authorized to speak on behalf of the government. However, he strongly implied there was evidence that stopped him from ruling out the possibility that alien aircraft visited our planet.

The former Pentagon official confirmed his team identified unusual aircraft that were ” defying the laws of aerodynamics.”
