Alexander Volkov beat Alistair Overeem in the headliner of this weekend’s UFC Fight Night. He would defeat the Dutchman Via TKO at 2:06 of the second round.

The 32-year old Russian was convincing, not allowing the more famous, but older as well, Overeem, to catch breath throughout seven minutes of tonight’s battle. We need to add that his overall shape was not as we used to, with Overeem having a few pounds more than usual. It seems that his age is finally catching up, and that ‘Reem needs to start thinking about retirement soon enough. That title match won’t come after this loss, and judging by the way he fought in the last few fights, Overeem is in severe decline.

As for Volkov, he is going up, and without any doubt, this is the biggest win of his career. After beating Walt Harris last October, the Demolition Man is another name in his resume, arguably the most sounding along with Fabricio Werdum.

The bantamweight fight lasted for just 28 seconds, sending the former champ to the canvas instantly. Edgar, too, needs to think about retirement, due to his recent record, and a massive drop in the performance.
